Network of Cities for Sustainable Tourism
Local governments can play a key role in the implementation of sustainable tourism. Local governments with previous similar experiences have achieved successful results and started involving stakeholders from all sectors. For this reason, local governments situated in European and non-European Mediterranean countries wish to start a fruitful and active cooperation with other local authorities for which mass-tourism plays a major role in the local economy.
The Network’s members are: Calviá (Spain), Çanakkale (Turkey), Rimini, Cervia, San Benedetto del Tronto, Tortolì, Venice, Chioggia and Comunitá Montana del Giovo (Italy), Georgioupolis and Kallithea (Greece), Lloret de Mar (Spain), Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental (Spain), Punta Umbría (Spain), Sousse (Tunisia), The Union of Local Authorities in Israel (representing the cities of Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Netanya, Bat Yam, Akko, and Nahariya). The chair of the Network is the Province of Rimini, in Italy. The Network is co-ordinated by ICLEI. Please click here to find out more.
